Studio Ghibli- Not less than a Dreamland

Have you ever heard of Studio Ghibli or ever saw this cute bear Totoro. If yes then you know what gem Ghibli is. If no, then allow me to introduce you to the magical world of Studio Ghibli. Well, not to mention this giant bear is the mascot of the Studio since 1988.

Studio Ghibli Inc. is a Japanese animation film studio situated in Tokyo. Ghibli was founded in 1985 and since then its been entertaining us with 2D animated films. The studio was founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Toshio Suziki, Yasuyoshi Tokuma.

Prior to the formation of Studio Miyazaki and Takahata had a long career in Film and Television Animation and had worked together also. The first movie by the studio was Castle in the Sky (1986), directed by Miyazaki himself and that was the day Studio Ghibli never looked back. Since then, Ghibli has gifted us with lots of beautiful movies. Not just in Japan, the fanbase of the Studio waves in all the direction of the world map.

Grave of Fireflies, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Roso, Whisper of the Heart, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, From upon Poppy Hill and many more are the best and most appreciated films by Ghibli.

Studio Ghibli and Cinema

I came to know about Ghibli movies in my early 20’s and that was like love at first sight for me. It does not feel like I am watching a movie. Its always like I am dreaming. The best part of Ghibli movies is that it pulls out the child inside you and makes you curious again and again. Ghibli animation is not just any animation movie it’s much more than that.

Its an emotion of love, pain, happiness, longingness, fantasy, war, and everything within. It’s not only for entertainment but also teaches values in a very subtle way.

From a psychological perspective, it’s very helpful for teenagers who just watch animation all day, this will teach them to be humble and thankful to each and every aspect of life. After all, to inspire is one of the prime motives of cinema.

Ghibli animations are 2D digital animations where it takes at least 2-3 years for a movie to complete. It’s a painful job though but watching the visual on the screen gives me immense satisfaction and keeps my inner toddler alive. Here films are much more worth than just monetary satisfaction. The Studio keeps entertaining us and will keep us entertaining in the future too. I would like everyone to watch Grave of the Fireflies and Spirited Away and I am sure that you will also fall for Ghibli. There are two upcoming movies Earwig and the Witch and How do you Live?

However, I can say it is “Disney of the East”. Those who don’t watch anime give yourself a chance and watch the movies and definitely you will fall for anime.
