Phenomenal Cast and the storyline of this Jewel

When we discuss a movie then the primary thing that we think off is the cast. And the cast of this vintage movie consisted of fabled actors including Amrish Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Girish Karnad, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and the exceptionally fine actress Smita Patil. Portraying the role of high-strung woman Bindu, Smita Patil has undoubtedly lived her character and did complete justice to it. Not just Smita Patil but the entire cast has done splendid work and made this movie one of the artistic movies. Talking about the storyline, this movie was uplifted by the spearheaded work of Mr. Varghese Kurien i.e. Milk cooperative movement and was co-written Vijay Tendulkar and him.

The film mainly revolves around a veterinary doctor (Dr. Rao played by Girish Karnad) who visits a rural village of Kheda district of Anand, Gujarat. He works and contemplates on the co-operative society of dairy for the prosperity and well-being of rural people. Later, he successfully accomplishes his intentions with the help of villagers including Bindu, whom he adores and shares affection which soon ends when Bindu’s husband who has apparently left Bindu along with a child returns home. Also, Dr. Rao’s wife comes to pay him a visit. Furthermore, due to allegations and issues, he leaves the village. Later, Bhola carries his work forward (played by Naseeruddin Shah).

This film was a box-office success. The earning of the movie was gifted back to the farmers. It was highly appreciated and was an official entry to the Oscars in the same year. The film also won the national film award in the category of best feature film and best screenplay award. Acclaimed and applauded with enormous love and success, this film deserves to be watched.
